After the decision on independence was adopted via referendum unilaterally held by Armenians in 1988 in Nagorno-Karabakh, local population was obliged to leave native lands, which was followed by Armenian occupations supported by Russia. Resulted in the loss of 20% of Azerbaijan’s lands, these occupations, which were a regional problem in the beginning, acquired an international character.
The state of war, lasting over 20 years, has more painful consequences for the Armenian government because of its destructive attitude. Tension of the present situation makes even Armenian experts give pessimistic forecasts for the future of the country. Analyst Igor Muradyan calls President Serj Sarkisyan “a lost politician, who denied the status of president of a European country and changed his country into the target of laughter”. According to the expert, who says Armenia is on the edge of a ruin, Armenia will not be saved without a strict public attitude to the corrupted regime of Sarkisyan, until the administrative course of the country is not changed.
The geographic position of Armenia also affects its military potential. Because of lack of sea frontier the country’s army comprises land and air forces only. One of the biggest problems to Armenia is a military budget, a soldier’s wage. This problem is mostly noticed in officer’s salaries and protection of existing military technology. This is the major factor damaging a public trust in army.
To Armenians, who have always an eye on our historical lands where they have settled down, one of the causes why the conflict started was not properly guaranteed life of local population in Nagorno-Karabakh, difficult conditions, discrimination. With that, they insolently wanted to justify their aggressive policy. However, the stories happened after the occupation demonstrated the realities of Armenia to the international community. The power, unable to maintain its population, floundering in hunger and misery, proved with its 20-year negligent work that it cannot manage to provide not Nagorno-Karabakh only but Armenia as well. About what justice were talking Armenians, who drove local Azerbaijanis out of native lands, committed genocide against them with unprecedented tortures on the basis of the chauvinist policy, under the motto “Turk is enemy”? Promoting various religious and national minorities, Azerbaijan has presented a new model of tolerance to the world, become a center of religious and national tolerance not in Caucasus only but in the globe. Undoubtedly, even now in Azerbaijan there are many Armenians living thanks to Azerbaijan, thanks to Turkic bread. Here are the model of tolerance of Azerbaijan and the model of nationalism of Armenia…
Armenia has been changed into the vassal of Russia in fact. Not capable of self-government, the country hardly stands.
