Future of every country is assessed with the level of education. Development of education is an important part of the general development concept of a country.

Care to education in Azerbaijan increases day by day. Dynamic development of domestic economy as a result of reforms carried out in this sphere in the past years brings to the development of education, which is accelerated as a key factor forming the future development model of the country. For this reason, development of education has become the most important sphere serving the formation of human capital.  

Development of institutional bases for education system, creation of new infrastructures, equipping the educational institutions with ICT, use of new evaluation methods and mechanisms, informatisation of education system and implementation of other important works thanks to everyday care and attention of President Ilham Aliyev serve the formation of human capital in the country.

The action plan made up for the implementation of the State Strategy on Development of Education in the Republic of Azerbaijan the President signed on October 24, 2013 set the targets to conform education system to the global education system.

According to the action plan envisaged in the Special State Programme for intensification of socioeconomic development of the City of Baku and its settlements, logistics of secondary schools and other educational centers is strengthened, the newest infrastructure created to lift the quality of education. On the eve of the new school year buildings of secondary schools across the republic are repaired to the highest standards and provided with necessary equipment, territories of educational institutions reconstructed.

Buildings of several secondary schools (46, 56, 23, 121, 115, School-Lyceum Complex under the Baku Slav University) were basically repaired and reconstructed, a new chess school was built and launched in Beylagan district this August.  

Establishment of the Knowledge Fund under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on May 7, 2014 is one of the significant measures towards the development of education. Aiming at enlightening the population, delivering the substance of internal and external policy of the state, public-political and socioeconomic processes to the public, the Fund backs the development of knowledge, skills, professional level and outlook of youth.

Encouraging the adaptation of education system in the Republic of Azerbaijan to the European standards, these activities contribute to the development of human capital in the country.
