Culture and national existence

Culture confirms the national existence, national originality of a nation. An ethnos without culture cannot reach the level of nation. Azerbaijan, which has for centuries been functioning as a bridge between East and West, various cultural and moral values, is one of the most ancient cultural hubs of the universal heritage. Characterized with a high-level development of national culture, Azerbaijan has gone down in the history with series of cultural innovations. For these factors we are proud of our national culture. The state culture policy features protection and high-level promotion of our rich cultural and moral heritage.

Since its establishment, Heydar Aliyev Foundation has been playing huge role in the development of Azerbaijani culture. The Foundation performs promising activities towards development and international promotion of our culture of rich history. Its works in the field of global culture and rebirth of Azerbaijan’s national and cultural heritage deserve appreciation. Heydar Aliyev Foundation gives special contributions to the enhancement of intercultural relations, holding international events, interreligious relations, bringing East and West, Islamic and Christian worlds closer.

Our cultural heritage, which our evil-wisher enemies have always tried to “appropriate”, stain with different distortions, has not lost its substance through difficulties of time. Occupation of Nagorno-Karabakh influenced Azerbaijani culture as well, since Karabakh was the “cultural center”, “academy of music and art” of Azerbaijan. By this way, our aggressor neighbors managed to accomplish their policy aimed at destroying, branding Azerbaijan’s cultural heritage. Every Azerbaijani should be mobilized to assure international awareness of atrocities committed by Armenians in Nagorno-Karabakh, an integral part of Azerbaijan, occupation of our lands, destruction and distortion of our historic-cultural monuments. World should be informed more comprehensively about vandalisms Armenian invaders commit.
