The geopolitical role of South Caucasus is very important for its potential and geostrategic position. This region enjoys a special value as a source of energy and for a favorable geopolitical position in the transportation of the Caspian energy resources to Europe. 

Situation in the environment of Caspian and Black seas, Russia, Iran and Turkey changes South Caucasus into a corridor between East and West, North and South. Also, a great deal of the Caspian hydrocarbon resources located here makes it especially important point and lifts attraction of Azerbaijan that enjoys rich oil-gas potential. It indicates the significant position of Caspian region, in particular South Caucasus on the geopolitical map of the world. 

As Z.Brzezinski, the US National Security Advisor to President Jimmy Carter, said U.S. also tries to increase its political influence in such an important geostrategic region as South Caucasus. This region is rich in all kinds of precious metals and oil-gas resources. The growing need of the world for energy raises the importance of this region rich in hydrocarbon resources.

Security of Azerbaijan is very important for security of the whole region. It considers a help to the assurance of stability and security of the country for the delivery of energy resources to global markets. Participation in global economic projects can be concerned Azerbaijan not as an ordinary state, but as one of the major leading ones. 

Of course, global projects on the development of the region’s hydrocarbon resources cannot be imagined without Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan is irreplaceable not only because it manufactures, but also because it is energy, transit corridor delivering own and Middle Asian republics’ products to Europe. As President Ilham Aliyev said, Azerbaijan is already a huge regional factor. The factor of stability, security and development.
