Attaching a special care and attention to education in Azerbaijan, Heydar Aliyev Foundation backs construction of new schools and other educational institutions. The Children’s Homes and Boarding Schools Development Project envisages settlement of problems at children’s homes and boarding schools in the republic, providing a technical support to them, assisting to the development of education and healthcare. Within the project, nearly 40 children’s institutions were fundamentally repaired and equipped with new appliances, secondary buildings constructed and utilities improved. The key goal of the New School for New Azerbaijan Programme, the Foundation has been implementing since 2005, is to support the efforts aimed at addressing the existing problems in education, establishing new training centers meeting the world standards in the country, eliminating the obstacles having a direct impact on the quality of education and finding out the possibilities for cooperation among various social strata, as well as local and foreign companies in this field. In the framework of the Programme, up to 400 school buildings seating over 100 thousand pupils were built or reconstructed in different regions of the country in 2005-2012. Each of those schools was equipped with up-to-date laboratories, libraries, cafeterias, state-of-the-art computer classes, workshops, gyms and playgrounds. Each school has own heating system. As part of the Support to Education Project of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation a number of schools in Georgia, Egypt, Romania, the Russian Federation, the Netherlands and Pakistan were reconstructed and basically repaired. Construction of a new high school for girls in Rara area of the Pakistani town of Muzaffarabad damaged by earthquake is among the most successful and significant accomplishments in this field. All these activities prove the care and attention Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, First Lady of Azerbaijan, renders to the development of education in the country.

These multilateral activities in the country and abroad support international assessment of Azerbaijan’s humanist position, guarantee the successes of global importance.
