A new phase in development of tourism in Azerbaijan

Ancient and historical Azerbaijan has achieved huge progress in tourism sector like all other spheres. Differed in charming nature, magnificent landscapes, ancient monuments, our homeland gets much more attractive to other countries day by day.

Present economic development of Azerbaijan characterizes the development of tourism as well. To stimulate development in this sphere and make it sustainable, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan signs significant projects, state programmes, decrees, orders and controls their fulfillment. Thanks to his care, Azerbaijan’s popularity in the world is growing and our country is taking its place among tourist countries.

As a result of implementation of the “State Programme on the development of tourism in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2002-2005”, favorable conditions were created for dynamic development of tourism, a number of new national tourist complexes were launched and their competitiveness was raised.

It is not the full list of the works done for development of tourism and changing it into one of the leading spheres of the domestic economy, which is one of the most important duties today in Azerbaijan. To solve problems in tourism sector and further develop this sphere, State Programme for development of tourism in 2010-2014 has been developed. President Ilham Aliyev’s declaring 2011 the Year of Tourism in Azerbaijan demonstrated the significant outcomes gained in the field of tourism in the country, which enjoys a favorable geographic position, ancient cultural and historical heritage, beautiful nature.

Numerous tourist objects of hotel type are built and opened, since international events are regularly held in Azerbaijan, the number of tourists is growing yearly. Exploitation of hotels all year long is assured according to international standards. 

One of such objects is Tufan Mountain-Ski Summer and Winter Rest Complex in Gabala. Construction of this complex once again showed the constant development of tourism in the country in new directions.
