Competitiveness of Azerbaijan in tourism sector, one of the most important spheres in the global economy, is quite high today. Our natural resources, diverse climate, rich historical and cultural heritage is a significant basis to create an attractive tourist product. The state of Azerbaijan has declared the development of tourism sector a priority in the nonoil sector of economy. Works done, reforms carried out, state programmes adopted, legal and normative base improved in the recent years for promotion of tourism in the country shows the huge attention the state of Azerbaijan pays to tourism.

Over the past years development of tourism has significantly increased in Azerbaijan, which has rich resources, favorable economic and geographic conditions for development of tourist industry. As a bridge between East and West, Azerbaijan is successfully integrating into global tourist space, enhancing international cooperation. Rational integration is directed to the objective declaration of the country’s tourist potential, development of international spectrum. European Games to be organized in 2015 for the first time will open opportunities for exhibition of Azerbaijan’s rich tourist potential. 

Hotels built in “Shahdagh” winter-summer tourist complex, which is a huge contribution to the rapidly developing tourism sector of Azerbaijan, and put into operation with participation of President Ilham Aliyev increase interest to this rest center and promote the country’s tourist potential. Conditions created at the complex once again prove that development of tourism in the country is a priority. The strategic line directed to the many-sided development of regional tourist base is giving fruits. All this open great opportunities to Azerbaijan to integrate into international tourist market, develop international cooperation in this sphere, expand dialogue and future cooperation.
