Characterized as “century of information”, the 21st century will go down in history with application, use and exchange of new technologies. Information technologies raise the efficiency in both the speed of multilateral service and activities done. The major indicator of innovation, national welfare and democratic development in every country is the level of organization and application of the ICT system.

Enjoying a dynamic and successful development concept, Azerbaijan is a regional power, secular collaborator with a diversified action strategy. Achieving a sustainable rate of growth in all directions of economic, political, social spheres, learning an intellectual economy, forming a strategic concept meeting the modern requirements is the result of the policy pursued in the republic on the basis of pragmatism and rationalism.

Azerbaijan has already become a sparkling star in ICT sector, achieved significant innovations for short time and is rapidly developing in this sphere. Development of nonoil sector, effectiveness of human capital are key directions in the national development concept aiming the liquidation of oil sector dependence. As part of this strategy, a step towards dynamic development of ICT sector has already been justified. Growing weight of ICT in economy in quality and quantity is the confirmation of e-service underway in the country. Rapid development of ICT, a reliable image our republic has acquired in the world characterized Azerbaijan’s hosting international events in this field. The BakuTel exhibition, which has already become a tradition, is the largest event in the field of telecommunications, including in the areas of information technology, in the Caspian and Caucasus regions. The BakuTel exhibition, held for the 19th time this year, has become an important event in the world of telecommunications over the past years. The regular participation of representatives of the United Nations, the International Telecommunication Union and the Regional Association of Communications and confirmation by the quality mark of the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry are factors supporting the authority of BakuTel. The 19th BakuTel exhibition’s coinciding with ICT year, when Azerbaijan launched its first artificial satellite into space, raised its importance and adorned its perfect demonstration.

Organized on the high level, the exhibition and conference proved once again that the major factor the development of Azerbaijani economy bases on is assurance of rapid and dynamic development of ICT sector, realization of huge outlooks for this sector. The event also confirmed the high level of the application of the information policy pursued in Azerbaijan, attention and approach of the state.
