Azerbaijan`s Minister of Foreign Affairs Elmar Mammadyarov met a delegation headed by Bridget Brink, the U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs
The sides discussed the current level of bilateral relations, as well as the issues of cooperation in the fields of energy, fight against terrorism, regional security and others between Azerbaijan and the United States of America.
Minister Elmar Mammadyarov stressed that the visit of President Ilham Aliyev to the United States of America to participate in the 4th Nuclear Security Summit and his bilateral meetings substantially contributed to the further development of relationship. He briefed the Deputy Assistant Secretary about the negotiation process on the resolution of the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict.
Saying that the USA attaches particular importance to the development of cooperation with Azerbaijan, Bridget Brink noted the necessity of reinforcing the dialogue mechanisms on strategic partnership between the two countries. She emphasized her country’s support for the measures implemented by Azerbaijan on diversification of economy and development of non-oil sector, as well as projects on regional transport infrastructure.
The sides exchanged their views on the development perspectives of bilateral relations and issues of international agenda.
