Andorra hosts 8th Supreme Assembly of Nizami Ganjavi International Center

The 8th Supreme Assembly of the Nizami Ganjavi International Center is underway in Andorra.

Deputy Head of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Head of Foreign Relations Department Novruz Mammadov, Nazim Ibrahimov, Chairman of State Committee on Work with Diaspora attended the event.

The event brought together Vaira Vike-Freiberga, co-chair of the Nizami Ganjavi International Center, President of the Republic of Latvia, Ismail Serageldin, co-chair of the Nizami Ganjavi International Center, Director of the Library Alexandria, as well as Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Mladen Ivanic, Amr Moussa the Secretary-General of the Arab League, Former President of Croatia Ivo Josipovic. The event was attended by Prime Minister of Andorra Antoni Marti, former Serbian President Boris Tadic, Diplomatic Advisor to the Italian President Antonio Zanardi Landi.

Novruz Mammadov delivered a speech at the event saying, the main reason for the problems of the modern world is non-compliance with international law. The top Azerbaijani official noted that a number of conflicts emerge as a consequence of non-compliance with international law. Speaking about main problems and challenges of the globalization process, Mr. Mammadov mentioned that the international community is facing conflicts in the Middle East and the refugee problem in Europe. “These problems should be analyzed thoroughly. These issues are extremely important. Thorough analysis of the underlying case should be the main purpose,” he said.

Nizami Ganjavi International Center was created with the multiple aims of preserving the reach cultural heritage of the past as well as encouraging and fostering current scholarship, research, cultural activity and social outreach, with aim to be a center of excellence for the production of knowledge and to be a place of dialogue and understanding between cultures and people.

The Nizami Ganjavi International Center is a truly unique institution. It is a national institution with an international mandate. Government of Azerbaijan and Council of Patrons, guided by the International Board of Trustees and constant touch with the Members and Friends of the Nizami Ganjavi International Center moves forward to build, an institution worthy of bearing the great name of Nizami Ganjavi with hope it will become “a source of pride for Azerbaijan and the world”.
