A jubilee meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) has today kicked off under the chairmanship of Kyrgyzstan in Bishkek.

The meeting participants include delegations led by Prime Ministers Dmitry Medvedev of Russia, Sooronbai Zheenbekov of Kyrgyzstan, Karim Masimov of Kazakhstan, Andrei Kobyakov of Belarus, Pavel Filip of Moldova, Kohir Rasulzoda of Tajikistan, and Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Yaqub Eyyubov, First Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Rustam Azimov, deputy chair of the cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Satlyk Satlykov.

Chairman of the Executive Committee and Executive Secretary of CIS Sergei Lebedev is also attending the meeting.

In his opening remarks, Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbai Zheenbekov stressed the necessity of introducing a full-scale free trade regime between the Commonwealth of Independent States and the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU).

He invited the participants to watch the Second World Nomad Games to be held this September on the shores of the Issyk-Kul Lake. According to him, it was not only a sport competition, but a dilague between peoples and cultures of the world.

During the meeting heads of state discussed the issues of increasing the profitability of free trade zones, innovative cooperation in the field of electrical power, deepening of mutual cooperation, displacement of radioactive sources and maintenance of agro-biodiversity.

The meeting decided to hold the next Council in Minsk this October.

At a briefing on the results of the meeting, Sergei Lebedev noted that 16 documents were signed in order to strengthen the integration processes within the CIS.
