Here, he also inspected a secondary school and environment damaged as a result of the Armenians` firing. Mr. Baghirov informed journalists about the construction of purification installations on the rivers, which begin in Armenia.
“We know that they contaminate rivers with poisonous substances. Armenians are damaging environment in the occupied Azerbaijani territories, cutting down forests and exploiting gold mines. Armenia is selling furniture and wood to foreign countries. All must know that those woods were cut in our occupied forests,” he stressed.
He said that the Armenians were using Sarsang water reservoir as a tool of environmental terror. "Sarsang water reservoir was built in the Soviet era through Azerbaijan`s funding and was meant to supply water to lands in Qarabagh. But now the Armenians use it as a tool of environmental terror. In winter, they use the water reservoir to subject the regions downstream where refugees live to flooding by releasing runoff from the reservoir in winter months, and cause serious damage to the agriculture of nearby regions by preventing water runoff in summer."
"There is the principle of mercy in all religions. What they do contradicts all religions, international conventions. The Armenians resort to all means to conduct a total war. The Armenians have made Sarsang water reservoir and Araz river a tool of environmental terror. We are updating the world community on this on a regular basis," he added.
The Minister also met with owners of the houses in the city of Tartar and Gapanli village, which were destroyed by shells.
