Vice-president of the Russian Jewish Congress, President of STMEGI International Charity Fund of Mountain Jews Herman Zakhariayev met with Mayor of the Israeli city of Acre Shimon Lancry and head of the Azerbaijani community of Mountain Jews of Acre Shirin Nechama Michaeli in Moscow.

During the meeting the parties discussed the official opening of the Tikvateynu - Our Hope Azerbaijan’s Mountain Jews Heritage Center and the groundbreaking of the second floor, which is expected to house the Azerbaijani House in Acre named after Heydar Aliyev.

According to Herman Zakhariayev, Jewish immigrants from Azerbaijan are always proud of their homeland Azerbaijan and never forget Azerbaijani language and traditions. "This land continues to make an incredible contribution to religious tolerance,” said Zakhariayev adding, that he made a decision to establish the Azerbaijani House named after Heydar Aliyev as the national leader of Azerbaijan “played a crucial role in establishing and strengthening the current strategic partnership between the State of Israel and the Republic of Azerbaijan".

The head of the Azerbaijani community of Mountain Jews of Acre Shirin Nechama Michaeli thanked Herman Zakhariyaev for his initiative. During the meeting the parties decided to open the first floor of Tikvateynu - Our Hope Azerbaijan’s Mountain Jews Heritage Center and lay the foundation stone for the second floor, conduct the Days of Culture of Mountain Jews, an international scientific conference and a concert.
