Japanese State Minister: Settlement of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict important for ensuring peace in the region

Japanese Minister in charge of Economic Revitalization, Total Reform of Social Security and Tax, Minister of State for Economic and Fiscal Policy Akira Amari has underlined the significance of finding a solution to the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

“Settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh dispute is important for ensuring peace in the region,” he told chairman of Azerbaijan`s parliament Ogtay Asadov as they met in Baku.

The Japanese Minister said his country was interested in developing its relationship with Azerbaijan. He vowed to do his utmost to contribute to the expansion of the bilateral cooperation.

Mr Asadov stressed the importance of high-level reciprocal visits and meetings in terms of the development of Azerbaijani-Japanese ties.

“I hope that your visit will help us move our relationship forward,” he told Mr Amari.

“Our countries have so far signed 26 documents,” said the chairman of Azerbaijan`s parliament, adding that Azerbaijan and Japan “are about to ink another 23 documents”.

Mr Asadov pointed to opportunities for cooperation in the non-oil sector.
