"Nagorno-Karabakh: history read through sources" book published in Ankara

Presentation of Turkish edition of the book by Head of the Presidential Administration of Azerbaijan, academician Ramiz Mehdiyev "Nagorno Karabakh: History read through sources" has been held in Ankara, Turkey.

The book, which published by the Berikan publishing house, digs into historical sources from the antique period up until present day, causes of the conflict. It clearly indicates to Nagorno-Karabakh`s belonging to the Azerbaijani states throughout the history.

The study spans the period since establishment of first states in the South Caucasus and narrates on the history of the region until the present day. The book looks into the real history of the South Caucasus referring to the ancient, medieval sources. The book proves that the Armenian ethnos emerged in the present form only in the early 19th century. In the result the number of Armenians increased in some regions of Western Azerbaijan – currently the Republic of Armenia. The author noted the historic events gave opportunity to Armenians to establish their state on the historic lands of Azerbaijanis. During the two centuries, Armenians opposed native Azerbaijanis from the territory and spared no effort to create mononational country.

The author also touched upon the changes happened in demographic situation in the result of remove of Armenians to Azerbaijani territories from the beginning of the 19th century. The author mentioned that the increase of a number of Armenians in Azerbaijan`s Nagorno-Karabakh and other regions, as well as establishment of the current republic of Armenia on the historic lands of Azerbaijan were the results of empire policy.

The book also features Armenia`s policy of ethnic cleansing and genocide against Azerbaijanis. Academician Ramiz Mehdiyev has also highlighted the participation of international Armenian terror organizations in the war. Some chapters of the book were dedicated to the legal base of the conflict, as well as Armenia`s non-constructive position in negotiations held within the OSCE Minsk group, and double standards of the huge states, which were the co-chairs of the group.
