Azerbaijan-Turkey unity guarantor of stability in region – President Aliyev

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received a delegation led by Foreign Minister of the Republic of Turkey Mevlut Cavusoglu Feb. 25.

The president expressed confidence that the visit of the delegation would give a new impetus to the further expansion of Azerbaijan-Turkey relations.

President Aliyev recalled with pleasure his state visit to Turkey and the meeting of the Turkey-Azerbaijan High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council, saying it was successful.

The president stressed the importance of discussions held during his visit on the future plans on joint activities, and said that Turkey-Azerbaijan ties were very important for the two countries` peoples and region, as well as for the world.

He said that the unity between the two counties was guarantor of stability in the region.

Cavusoglu said he was happy to pay his first official visit as the Foreign Minister of the Republic of Turkey to Azerbaijan. Cavusoglu conveyed greetings on behalf of President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu to President Aliyev.

Cavusoglu noted the significance of President Aliyev`s state visit to Turkey and the meeting of the Turkey-Azerbaijan High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council in terms of strengthening bilateral bonds even further.

President Aliyev and Cavusoglu exchanged views over the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars and TANAP projects, military-technical cooperation and the issues related to the further expansion of relations in other areas.

The president thanked for the greetings of President Erdogan and Davutoglu, and asked Cavusoglu to communicate his greetings to the Turkish president and prime minister.
