Kemaleddin Heydarov: We will continue cleaning up contaminated lands in Absheron peninsula

“One of our main tasks is to clear lands and reservoirs on the sea coast and put them into operation”

“One of our main tasks is to clear lands and reservoirs on the sea coast and put them into operation. Mr. President Ilham Aliyev set it as task before us,” said Azerbaijani Minister of Emergency Situations Kemaleddin Heydarov.

The minister said that Azerbaijan is a country with a high level of economic development indicators and particularly, provision of security issues is important in such developing countries: “In this regard, large-scale projects are carried out in the country. A new seaport and shipyard have been recently opened in Baku. As you know, damage of oil refineries to the lands should be eliminated. "

Kemaleddin Heydarov said Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Emergency Situations has been cooperating with the Dutch Ministry since 2010.

“We have close cooperation with a number of Dutch companies, including the Ministry of Infrastructure and Environment. The protocol of intent that we have signed today also covers our future activities. We will continue cleaning up contaminated lands in the Absheron peninsula. Relevant projects are being developed and the implementation of the projects will be launched soon,” he said.

Minister Heydarov also stressed the successful cooperation with Dutch companies.

“Bank protection and clearing works are underway in the Kur River. Most of these areas have been rescued from danger thanks to the ships purchased from Dutch companies,” he added.
