Poland’s Agriculture and Rural Development Minister Marek Sawicki will visit Azerbaijan on Nov. 3-4.
During the visit, Sawicki will discuss with the Azerbaijani side the possibility of cooperating in agriculture, the Polish Embassy in Azerbaijan told Oct. 28.
The embassy said the Polish delegation will include representatives of agricultural and food sector manufacturers, and managers of the veterinary and phytosanitary inspection.
Sawicki also plans to meet with Azerbaijan’s Agriculture Minister Heydar Asadov, and representatives of the country’s agricultural sector.
The representatives of veterinary inspections of Azerbaijan and Poland will also discuss the promising areas in cooperation.
Poland has lately participated in two EU-funded twinning projects in Azerbaijan.
The first project covered the works on identification and registration of farm animals for their export to other EU countries, and the second – the fight against erosion of agricultural and other types of soils in Azerbaijan.
The agriculture and food industry are among the most important sectors of the Polish economy.
In 2013, Poland exported agricultural food products worth over 20 billion euros. The total volumes of Polish exports last year exceeded 150 billion euros.
