"Karabakh on my mind" exhibition by Azerbaijani artist and architect Yavar Rzayev has opened in the Mexican Senate.
Organized by Chairperson of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Senate Gabriela Cuevas Barron, the event brought together representatives of the Mexican Congress, the country's officials, members of the diplomatic corps, as well as Vice-president of the Senate Jose Rosas Aispuro.
Addressing the opening ceremony, Chairperson Gabriela Cuevas Barron said the exhibition shows Azerbaijan's cultural diversity, support to dialogue among civilizations and cultural bridge among nations.
Azerbaijani Ambassador to Mexico Ilgar Mukhtarov noted that the exhibition would contribute to strengthening cultural relations between Azerbaijan and Mexico.
The diplomat highlighted the causes and consequences of the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, adding the Armenian armed forces have occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan's territories.
Books and brochures related to Azerbaijan's history, culture and cuisine were also put on display. The participants also had an opportunity to enjoy the taste of various goodies of Azerbaijani and Mexican national cuisine.
Yavar Rzayev, living in Washington since 2000 has made Azerbaijan popular among the American art lovers. For this period, Yavar, who arrived in Washington at the invitation of Americans acquainted with his works in Baku, has already taken part in many exhibitions. His works were exhibited in the famous Dupont Gallery in Washington.
