Azerbaijani president receives delegation led by Russian Defence Minister

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received a delegation led by Defence Minister of the Russian Federation Sergei Shoigu Oct. 13.

Noting that bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Russia were successfully and dynamically developing, the president recalled his recent meetings with President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin in Astrakhan and Minsk, and added that high-level meetings were carried out on a constant basis.

Noting that political and economic ties between the two countries were successfully developing, President Aliyev stressed the importance of cooperation in the military and military-technical fields in terms of the expansion of bilateral relations. The president said the visit of the delegation led by Shoigu to Azerbaijan would create good opportunities for discussing prospects of cooperation in the military and military-technical fields, and expressed confidence that the visit would be a success.

Expressing his gratitude for the warm words about the development of bilateral relations between the two countries, Shoigu underlined the importance of the high-level meetings in Astrakhan and Minsk. Shoigu stressed the significance of decisions on cooperation in the Caspian Sea.

Noting that military cooperation in the Caspian Sea basin was developing successfully, the minister expressed confidence that today`s meeting would contribute to the expansion of relations between the countries.
