President Aliyev watches operational and tactical exercise of Azerbaijani Armed Forces

A joint operational and tactical exercise of the Ministry of Defence, Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and units and detachments of the State Border Service has been held on the occasion of the 96th anniversary of the establishment of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev watched the main stage of the exercise, which featured tactical and military employment of the units and detachments, as well as weapon systems.
Defence Minister, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov reported to the President, Supreme Commander-in-Chief.
The head of state viewed the general plan of the exercise sites to be demonstrated during the joint operational and tactical exercise, as well as military hardware and samples of personnel uniform and food.
President, Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev then watched the military employment of the units and detachments, as well as weapon systems.
The exercise involved a total of 4,000 people, 80 tanks, nearly 100 armored vehicles, nearly 80 artillery systems, 10 fighting jets, nearly 20 military and transport helicopters.
Following the exercise, Azerbaijani President, Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev made a speech in front of the servicemen.
Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev then presented - on the occasion of the 96th anniversary of the establishment of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan - orders, medals and gifts to a group of servicemen who distinguished themselves during the service.
