Azerbaijan, Uruguay sign agreement on customs cooperation

Uruguay and Azerbaijan signed an agreement on cooperation and mutual assistance in customs affairs, the Azerbaijani State Customs Committee said on June 17.
The document was signed during a delegation headed by Chairman of the State Customs Committee, deputy chairman of the World Customs Organization Europe Region Aydin Aliyev's visit to Uruguay.
The heads of customs services of the two countries exchanged views on developing cooperation and sharing experience at the meeting.
Head of the Azerbaijani State Customs Committee met with the chairman of the House of Representatives of the Eastern Republic of Uruguay Anibal Pereira, members of the inter-parliamentary friendship group with Azerbaijan under the parliament of Uruguay, Minister of Economy and Finance of Uruguay Mario Bergara, Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries Tabaré Aguerre and discussed issues of expanding cooperation between the two countries.
Significant increase in trade turnover has been observed between the countries this year.
The foreign trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Uruguay amounted to $984,310 in January-April 2014, which is about 288 times more than in the same period of last year. It should be stressed that the entire trade turnover volume falls to import.
