An exhibition of archival documents marking the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and the Russian Federation has opened at the Russian Foreign Ministry. Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Elmar Mammadyarov and Foreign Minister of Russia Sergey Lavrov attended the exhibition.
Addressing the opening ceremony, Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov emphasized that relations between Azerbaijan and Russia have deep roots. "In our recent history, these documents record the ongoing development of the strategic partnership between Russia and Azerbaijan. We have the opportunity to present the process of establishing our relations, including the Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Security of 1997," said the Russian FM.
Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Mammadyarov pointed out that there was a good tradition between Azerbaijan and Russia to pay reciprocal visits every year. Mammadyarov said that during the 25 years of diplomatic relations more than 200 bilateral documents have been signed between Azerbaijan and Russia. He stressed that cooperation between the two countries is developing both at Moscow-Baku and regional levels.
